FBS Conference Projected Standings for 2011 season
Updated for games through September 5, 2011 (week one). Only the few conferences who had relevant games are updated in this post; for the remainder see our pre-season post here.
We use "fuzzy logic" which allows for partial wins and losses to project the most likely conference winners based on our pre-season rankings. Actual results are integrated as the season progresses.

Only three leagues played any intra-conference games, and the ACC had the most important as suspension-plagued Miami nearly overcame the odds but fell to Maryland. The Terps now have a good chance to edge Clemson for the #3 spot in the Atlantic while the 'Canes look like a solid #3 in the Coastal behind UNC.

8 | 8 | New Mexico | 0.93 | 6.07 | 0 | 1 |
Colorado State beat New Mexico, which only solidifies the Lobos' spot in the cellar, while the Rams move up to #5. That's probably as far as they go as there's a big gap between the upper and lower half of the conference though.

FIU defeated North Texas which doesn't affect the Mean Green at all but pushes the Panthers just past Arkansas State as expected division winner.
