For the fifth and final time this season the Lineal College Football Title has changed hands, and appropriately enough Florida is the new champion. By beating Oklahoma, who held the title since week 13, Florida finishes at number one for the 2nd year of the last three. It's also the fourth year in the last five that the BCS champion has ended the year the Lineal champion as well. Last year Missouri finished on top while LSU was the BCS champ.
For all of the regular season the title was in the Big Twelve's hands. Missouri lost the crown to Oklahoma State in week seven to Oklahoma State; the Cowboys lost it two week later to Texas. The Longhorns fell the very next week to Texas Tech, who made it three weeks before losing to Oklahoma. The Sooners defended their title against two of the former champs, Oklahoma State and Missouri, before losing last night to Florida and falling to #2.
The top ranks are still dominated by Big Twelve teams, but not like last week when they made up the top six. The SEC is very well represented with 11 of 12 teams in the rankings!
